Arezzo: This prestigious Villa can be considered one of the greatest examples of rationalist architecture of the province of Arezzo.
The
Villa was built in the late '60s on the project of Ing. Luigi
Lucherini, at the time a student of the famous Arch. Giovanni
Michelucci, one of the masters of Italian rationalist architecture;
among countless masterpieces of Maestro Michelucci are remembered the
railway station of Santa Maria Novella in Florence and the famous church
in Campi Bisenzio (FI) along the 'Highway A1.
The architectural
style of the villa recalls in an evident way the clean lines of the
Italian Rationalism that the Arch. Michelucci was one of the followers
with typical pagoda roofs, which we can see in both the Villa of
Calderino, and in the church of San Giovanni Battista.Even the interior
of the Villa, made of solid chestnut tailored by Tuscan artisans, are
inspired by the design of Italian rationalism; of special mention is the
impressive chestnut staircase that leads to the first floor and the
majestic Italian stone fireplace of the XVII century.
Building: The
Villa (land registry A/7) was completely restored and enlarged in 2012
by its current owner, valuing the precious interior finishes, such as
chestnut frames and original terracotta floors. With the expansion of
the inner surface of more 50 square meters, it has also created a
cottage next to the Villa of further 60 square meters, currently used as
a garage for 3 cars. During restoration, the roof of the Villa has been
reinforced and insulated using natural insulating materials, have been
made new electrical, plumbing, and five new bathrooms; for whitewashing
the interior has been used the best non-toxic paints in the world of the
famous British company Farrow & Ball.Again in 2012 it was also made
the bio-pool placed in the garden in front of the elegant porch of the
Villa; on the back patio there is a wood oven built by hand to cook food
in a natural way.
The inner surface of the Villa after
enlargement is about 600 square meters. In front of the villa around the
pool it was built a lawn English style; the Villa is protected by a
wood of about 6000 square meters where there is a kitchen garden that
provides organic vegetables during the summer season.
